For the post I read complaining about all the crappy jmusic and wanting to hera live bands:
Before the event, scour the burning man website for theme camps and find one that describes what you are looking for. I found a schedule of live music at this camp at 3:00 and Amnesia. Saw Hamsa LIla there and some other great treats. Also, find the music schedule in the center camp...i saw The MErmen there after the burn and it was great.
Also, check out Otter Oasis village schedule (poke around the website before the event) that is a great place for those who wish to see live musicians at work. Sunday night I saw some amzing imrov funk and I was blown away.
Alma Melodiosa also did a few sets live that were really tasty.
I suggest you do some research before the event, there are folks setting up for a live music force. Also keep in check band names that play often. Hamsa Lila is a good one to start with. Ask around the playa. You wil find the zone. Seems like most of teh live music was between 7:00 and 3:00. A lot of untz untz over by 9:00. But who knows what 2006 will be like!!
I also stumbled into a couple Michael Franti sessions, but that was by luck. =)
Im all about the live music!

Re: How to find Live Music at Burning Man
Thu, December 29, 2005 - 3:53 PMI know BM is an event where I put my live music energy aside for a bit and feel the breeze and go on other kinds of adventures...but once I was there, I really wanted a few doses of LIVE MUSIC anyway. It was kind of fun ot put away my personal CDs for the week and just listen to whatever came my way. It was good for me to get out of my music element.
But when yer jonsin', yer JONSIN! hahaha -

Fri, August 18, 2006 - 1:10 AMI would look for The Now at Red Nose District i think at 7:30 and Esplanade. These folks were pretty committed to bringing live music to the playa this year. -
